Amber St. Clare makes her way up through the ranks of 17th century English society by romancing and marrying successively richer and more important men, while keeping her love for the one man she can never have. The film stars Linda Darnell and Cornel Wilde. It is based on the scandalous and occasionally banned 1944 historical novel by Kathleen Winsor. The film is "not rated" and 138 minutes. Viewers are invited to discuss the book and film after the screening. Copies of the book are available in the library‚Äôs book and eBook collections.
