HB African-American Literature Club

  • CostFree

The HB African-American Literature Club meets monthly on the 2nd Saturday at 3 pm. Meetings are in person and via Zoom. June is African-American Music Month. Join the HB African-American Book Club as we celebrate the legacy of Sam Cooke.

We will also discuss Overground Railroad by Candacy Taylor, the story behind the locations featured in the Green Book, a travel guide for African-Americans during segregation. Sam Cooke and many other African-American entertainers of the time stayed at our local Magnolia House on their trips to Greensboro. A screening of the Sam Cooke Legend documentary will follow the discussion. Due to screening rights restrictions, only in person attendees will be allowed to view the film.

Please contact Ronald Headen for more information or to register for Zoom by email or call 336-412-6199.
