American Slavery A Composite
A composite autobiography of the life histories of former slaves in the United States compiled through nearly 4,000 interviews with ex-slaves.

Ancestry Library
The world's largest family history website. Available in the library only.  

Antiques Database                                            Lists prices received for items at regional auction houses. Use this database to determine the value of your possessions, including books, bottles and other types of glass, crafts and folk art, dolls, furniture, paintings, and more.

English Poetry
English Poetry contains the complete English poetic canon from the 8th century to the early 20th. Over 160,000 poems by more than 1,250 poets are drawn from nearly 4,500 printed sources.

Contains a wide variety of information on small business and entrepreneurial subject areas and common business types, and includes a help and advice section and provides information on how to create business plans that lead to successful funding. 

Environmental Science 
The collection contains environmental science related full-text articles, access to figures and tables within articles, environmental impact statements, and the entire range of bibliographic records from Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management (ESPM).

Faber Poetry 
A collection of poetry databases providing full text access to American, African-American and English poetry. Also contains the Faber Poetry Library collection, which includes some of the most influential poets of the twentieth century and spans the s70-year history of this major publishing house.

Family Health 
Contains 300 full-text consumer health periodicals covering a wide spectrum of issues with indexing and abstracts for 300 more.

Films on Demand
On demand films for the Humanities & Sciences, ABC News, NBC News, BBC, National Geographic, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Bill Moyers, Shopware, The Open University, A&E, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Fred Friendly Seminars, Cambridge Educational, and many more.

Freegal Music 
An online database that provides access to millions of songs from 10,000 music labels and thousands of popular artists in hundreds of musical genres. The application is DRM-FREE (Digital Rights Management) and supports Mp3 files that can be played on any mobile device (including iPods). Each library account holder can download five songs a week for free.

Contains information in primary sources, critical articles, literary and cultural analysis, and biographies on authors and their works in all genres and disciplines.

Gale Reference 
A database, in e-book format, of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for research topics on the arts, biographies, education, the environment, history, medicine, multicultural studies, the nation and the world, religion, science, and social science.

Simply Maps
Simply Maps is a Web-based mapping application that lets users quickly create professional-quality thematic maps and reports using powerful demographic, business, and marketing data.

Greensboro News and Record
Access to archived editions of the past 20 years of Greensboro News & Record is available from Newsbank.

Guidestar is a nonprofit information database covering charitable organizations nationwide. Central Library users may access this resource in-house by requesting the login from a reference librarian on the second floor. Users may get partial access free of charge. NC Live e-books
Comprehensive collection of electronic books (eBooks) with access to a wide range of research, reference, and reading materials. Books can be previewed for 15 minutes, checked out for up to two hours, or downloaded onto your home PC for offline viewing. Titles include Cliffs Notes, the Idiot’s Guide series, the Chicken Soup series, and books on a variety of topics such as computers, self-help, gardening and much more.

Nursing and Allied Health 
Provides nearly 600 fulltext journals (including nearly 450 peer-reviewed journals) and abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals that focus on many medical disciplines with strong coverage in nursing and allied health.

Free and on-demand video of national and local programs produced by the Public Broadcasting Service. 

Pronunciator                                      With more than 4,000 courses available, Pronunciator has access to 80 languages. The languages range from Brazilian Portuguese to Mandarin Chinese. The language courses are available in English as well as 60 other languages. In addition, Pronunciator also provides ESL courses in 50 different languages to help you learn and improve English language skills. A Spanish language version of Pronunciator is also available.

This tool makes writing a better resume quick and easy. Simply fill in the blanks at each step with thousands of pre-written phrases and keywords recommended by experts for most careers. It is not necessary to use a valid e-mail address to sign in.

Historical past of North Carolina. Provides digital access to 11,173 large-scale maps of 158 North Carolina towns and cities. Users have the ability to easily manipulate the maps, magnify and zoom in on specific sections, and compare maps from different years. 

Simply Map
NCLive's marketing tool that provides detailed consumer demographic data. This graphically strong service maps locations and gives reports of statistical data. Your library card number will be needed to use this service remotely

SIRS Issues Researcher
