Records on Microfilm

We know conducting research with microfilm can be daunting. That's why our librarians are here to help.

The Greensboro Public Library has numerous records on microfilm for Guilford and all neighboring and parent counties, including Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Davidson, Forsyth, Orange, Randolph, Rockingham, Rowan, Stokes, and Surry. In the past, these counties either formed, adjoined, or were part of Guilford.

As a general rule, the Library's records correspond to what was once called the county "Core Collections" (although this is a term no longer used by the NC State Archives). In fact, in many cases, the Library's records extend beyond the traditional Core Collections. This index gives the Library's specific holdings.

This list of county records is arranged according to the cataloging system of the NC State Archives. Records are in order alphabetically by county, and within counties, by record types.

Microfilm may be used during all library hours.
