Film Screening: Madame Curie

National Women's History Month

  • Cost
This two-hour film stars Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon as the courageous couple who won the 1903 Nobel Prize for their discovery of radium. In an era when women were only allowed to be ornaments or mothers, young Marie Sklodowska of Poland dreamed of something more. She defied convention to study physics and mathematics at the Sorbonne and – with Pierre Curie, the professor who became her husband – to make one of the greatest breakthroughs in 20th-century science. The film is being shown in honor of this National Women's History Month. This year's theme is Women Inspiring Innovation through Imagination: Celebrating Women In Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
