Dr. Jessica B. Harris is the author of twelve critically acclaimed books documenting the foods and foodways of the African Diaspora including High on the Hog: A Culinary Journey from Africa to America. Her cookbooks have been included the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame and she was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the same organization. She was a professor in the English Department at Queens College, CUNY for 50 years until her retirement. Dr. Harris will be in conversation with Dr. Love Jones, Executive Director of Human Rights at the City of Greensboro.
The program starts at 7 pm. There will be pre-event entertainment and reception beginning at 6:15 pm.
