Meet an Author Day

Featuring DéLana R.A. Dameron author of "Redwood Court"

  • CostFree

Be a part of Greensboro's creative scene at our semi annual Author Day! Meet some of the talented North Carolina authors that live in our area and beyond. You can chat with published writers of several genres, buy their books, and have them signed. There will also be a workshop for aspiring and seasoned writers.

At 3 pm: Our featured author will be DéLana R.A. Dameron. Dameron is a novelist, poet, and artist who believes in the power of storytelling to move people. Her debut novel is Redwood Court  (2024 by Dial Press). The book was a Reese’s (Witherspoon) Book Club pick in February. Witherspoon said, "This book is filled with a sense of nostalgia as Mika takes us down memory lane, sharing stories of her Southern Black family through a collection of vivid vignettes." Charmaine Wilkerson, author of Black Cake, wrote for The New York Times Book Review,  “Dameron… does a beautiful job weaving in local vernacular and casting a fresh gaze on an engaging, though flawed, cast of characters. . . . This novel delivers the kind of choral experience that I have savored in books as disparate as James McBride’s The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store and Elizabeth Strout’s Olive Kitteridge.”

At 1:30 pm:  There will be a Query Letter Writing Workshop with La Sheera Lee, senior literary agent with SBR Media. Is the thought of writing a query letter challenging to you? Attend this workshop to learn a few steps to making the art of querying a less cumbersome process. Lee is the founder of Lights! Camera! Action!, the artistic event integrates books and the arts into an interactive weekend. She has appeared at Black Ink: A Charleston African American Literary Festival, Romantic Times, Atlanta Writers Club Conference,  and many others.

Contact Ronald Headen at 336-412-6199 or email to register for the workshop and for more information.
