Saturday Flick Fest: "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg"

  • CostFree

Join us for a screening of the 1964 classic The Umbrellas of Cherbourg  (not rated). Catherine Deneuve was launched to stardom by this dazzling musical from Jacques Demy. She plays an umbrella-shop owner’s delicate daughter, glowing with first love for a handsome garage mechanic. When he is shipped off to fight in Algeria, the two lovers must grow up quickly. Exquisitely designed in a kaleidoscope of colors, and told entirely through lilting songs by the great composer Michel Legrand, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is one of the most revered and unorthodox movie musicals of all time.

This is a great way to enjoy a free movie and get out for a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon. Once a month we will screen a great recent or classic film. There will be popcorn and candy. The audience can also submit title suggestions for future screenings. It will be a joy, so we want to see you there.

The great Audrey Hepburn once said “Everything I learned, I learned from the movies.” Also remember Humphrey Bogart's immortal line from The Maltese Falcon that can also be applied to movies: "The stuff that dreams are made of". This an in person only event due to screening rights. Contact Ronald Headen by email or call 336-412-6199 for more information.
