The club will hold its annual Black Music Month celebration. This year we will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Vee-Jay Records, one of the earliest African-American owned record companies. This Gary, Indiana record label was founded by Vivian Carter and James Bracken. Jerry Butler, Gene Chandler, The Staple Singers, and The Dells were just a few of the major artists to have their first successes at the label. The presentation will include audio and video relating to the company.
