From March 28 - April 26, visitors will have a rare opportunity to see an original 1864 printed Emancipation Proclamation, signed by Abraham Lincoln. An inkwell used by Lincoln, photographs of the Lincoln family and historic prints will also be on view. Voices and shared stories of African Americans' continued efforts for freedom and equality in the Voices of a City: Greensboro North Carolina exhibition will be highlighted, connecting our city to the nation's history.

The Lincoln documents and objects will be on loan and are part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection at the Indiana State Museum. The collection was given to the State of Indiana by the Lincoln Financial Foundation in 2008. The Indiana State Museum is home to the historic objects and art while books, documents, photographs and periodicals are curated at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.

This exhibition project made possible by Lincoln Financial Group, City of Greensboro, Greensboro Historical Museum, Inc., and John Floy Wicker Endowment.
