An Evening with Best-Selling Author Jamie Ford

  • Cost
Greensboro Public Library presents New York Times best-selling author Jamie Ford for a discussion and book signing. Ford is best known for the book club favorite, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, a story about the love and friendship between Henry Lee, a Chinese American boy, and Keiko Okabe, a Japanese American girl, set in Seattle during World War II and highlighting the racial tensions of the time. The novel won numerous awards including the Asian-Pacific American Award for Literature.

His second novel, Songs of Willow Frost, is set against the backdrop of the Depression and is the tale of a Chinese American boy with dreams for his future and a woman escaping her haunted past—both seeking love, hope, and forgiveness. Ford also writes speculative fiction and has contributed to the anthologies Last Night, A Superhero Saved My Life and Secret Identities, the first Asian American superhero anthology.

The son of a Chinese American father, Ford grew up in Seattle. The Western name Ford comes from his great grandfather, Min Chung (1850-1922), who immigrated to Nevada in 1865 and changed his name to William Ford. The author currently lives in Montana with his wife and children.
