During World War I, Quaker educator Mary Mendenhall Hobbs (1852-1930) was a powerful voice for peace. Gwen Gosney Erickson, Friends Librarian and College Archivist at Guilford College, details Hobbs’s efforts to promote the newly formed American Friends Service Committee. Lori Fernald Khamala, program director for the AFSC Greensboro Office, will share some of her organization’s continuing work locally and nationwide.
