Voices Together® is a non-profit organization specializing in music therapy and is a service provider for Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) with the NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Voices Together® has developed an innovative and evidence-based program with transformational outcomes in North Carolina communities, school classrooms, and vocational settings since 2007.
The VOICSS® Model helps students learn to speak and listen, work well with others, manage their emotions, and learn job skills. The program uses a unique music therapy model to employ a specialized curriculum that blends functional living and learning skills. The program helps neurodivergent individuals improve their communication, self-efficacy, and self-advocacy to help them thrive in their lives, school, and work.
The board-certified therapists engage students to work on individual and group goals through various methods. The non-directive approach allows students to express themselves, advocate their needs and learn to solve problems. The program teaches the soft skills necessary to navigate daily life, school, community, and a job. Voices Together does not refer to the term "job/employment" traditionally; instead, it is adapted to what it means to each student. A job could mean school, duties/chores at home, community, volunteer work, self-employment, or employment with a company.
Visit the Voices Together website for additional information about the organization.
